CNC/Manual Machinist

Summary:

• Location: Houston, TX
• Duration: 6 Months
• Work shift: 2nd shift: 2pm-10:30pm OT available and weekends

Responsibilities:

• Support Rotor shop and Machine shop in running large CNC/Manual lathes, CNC/Manual VTLs, and CNC/Manual Mills, holding tight tolerances meeting OEM requirements and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements for Gas turbine, Steam turbine, and Aero components.
• Support safety culture and drive a safe-to-start mindset.
• Align large rotors, gas components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections.
• Program CNC lathes, VTLs, and milling machines.
• Read and interpret documents such as OEM drawings, REIs, Work Instructions, and Digital Routers.
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls as required.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrate advanced/expert skill level in CNC mill, CNC lathe, NC (figure feed rates), Manual mill, Manual lathe, and Manual VTL.
• Ability to operate both Manual and CNC machines.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) Rotors and component machining is a big plus.
• Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD & T). Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
