Picture This
A new work order drops. You analyze the drawing and GD&T, choose the tools, set zero and reference points, and dial in offsets. The mill or lathe comes to life. You measure, verify, document, and keep production flowing safely. If a hiccup appears, you troubleshoot, consult the manual, and arrange repairs so the next operator starts strong.
Core Responsibilities
- Set up and run CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision parts.
- Interpret work orders, blueprints, and GD&T to plan machining steps.
- Optional: assist with programming/editing at the control, including tool registers and calculations; prove out programs.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe, orderly area.
- Complete preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and call for repairs per manufacturer guidelines.
- Record production and quality data; communicate actions and irregularities between shifts.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude with problem-solving and machine debugging skills.
- Knowledge of tooling, tolerances, and program fundamentals.
- Math, measuring, and blueprint reading skills are a plus.
- Setup and programming experience is a plus.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Resourceful self-starter attitude is a plus.
