    Job Description

    CNC Manufacturing Technician Apprentice

    Our purpose

Build precise parts, reliably and safely. As an apprentice technician, you help deliver consistent quality for our customers while learning modern CNC manufacturing on Fanuc-controlled equipment.

    Your first 90 days — a scenario

Week 1–2: You partner with your CNC trainer and supervisor to learn cell work instructions, safety/environmental practices, and inspection flow. You get hands-on with machine prep and gage setup, and you practice the tag procedure.

Week 3–6: You operate CNC lathes and mills and gain exposure to broaching. You verify parts with plug, snap, flush pin, go/no-go gages, calipers, and more. You learn to spot trends, make offset corrections, and swap inserts correctly based on type and radius.

Week 7–12: You manage documentation independently, sustain housekeeping standards, and consistently meet or exceed production targets while protecting quality. You submit at least one improvement suggestion to your supervisor or the HR box, and you assist in troubleshooting quality issues using data from gaging.

    What success looks like

    • Every task follows job, safety/environmental, and inspection instructions from cell documentation and leadership
    • Machines and gages are prepared correctly before production starts
    • Parts conform to print; deviations are corrected through proper offsets and timely insert changes
    • Paperwork is complete, accurate, and on time
    • Production output meets or beats standards without sacrificing quality
    • Housekeeping, recycling, labeling, spill procedures, and environmental programs are followed
    • Quality and Environmental system requirements are met at all times
    • Continuous improvement ideas are shared proactively with a supervisor or via the HR box
    • Other duties are taken on as assigned by your supervisor to support the team

    Your toolkit

    • CNC lathes and mills; exposure to broaching
    • Fanuc controls
    • Gaging: plug, snap, flush pin, go/no-go, calipers, and related tools
    • Offset adjustments, insert identification (type/radius), and proper changeover
    • High-volume production discipline and basic quality troubleshooting

    What you already bring

    • Experience in, or readiness to be trained on, CNC equipment (lathes, mills, broaches)
    • Machine shop training in high school or beyond
    • Ability to perform offsets confidently
    • Knowledge of insert types and radii with correct installation practices
    • Proficiency reading and interpreting common gages
