    Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a Night Shift skilled and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lathe machines to produce high-precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining principles, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to quality and safety.

    Responsibilities:

    • Set Up and Operation:
    • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to determine machining requirements, dimensions, and tolerances.
    • Set up CNC lathe machines, including selecting and aligning appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials (e.g., metals, plastics, alloys).
    • Load raw materials into the machine and ensure proper positioning.
    • Adjust machine settings, such as cutting speeds, feed rates, and depth of cut, to optimize performance and product quality.
    • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or deviations from specifications and make necessary adjustments.
    • Programming and Troubleshooting:
    • Read, edit, and optimize CNC programs (G-code) to ensure efficient and accurate machining processes.
    • Troubleshoot machining issues, diagnose equipment malfunctions, and resolve problems promptly to minimize downtime.
    • Quality Control:
    • Conduct in-process and final quality assurance checks on finished parts using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure adherence to specified tolerances and quality standards.
    • Identify and report any defective outputs or inconsistencies.
    • Document inspection results and maintain accurate production records.
    • Maintenance and Safety:
    • Perform routine maintenance on CNC lathe machines and tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
    • Adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and company policies, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
    • Report any safety hazards or equipment issues.
    • Collaboration and Improvement:
    • Collaborate effectively with engineers, quality control personnel, and other team members to optimize machining processes, improve efficiency, and resolve technical challenges.
    • Suggest and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

    Preferred Skills (Bonus Points):

    • Experience with specific CNC control systems (e.g., FANUC, Haas, Okuma, Mazak).
    • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software.
    • Forklift experience.
    • Experience with other machining processes (milling, grinding, etc.).

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Completion of an apprenticeship or vocational/technical training program in CNC machining or a related field is preferred.
    • Proven experience (X years) as a CNC Lathe Machinist or similar role.
    • Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC lathe machines.
    • Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
    • Solid understanding of G-code programming and the ability to edit programs.
    • Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, etc.).
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
    • Basic math skills (including geometry and trigonometry) for calculations related to machining parameters.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Ability to lift and move materials as required, and stand for extended periods.
