CNC Mill Machinist (3-Axis and 5-Axis)

Job Description

This role focuses on setting up, operating, and maintaining 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-quality precision components. You will work as part of a production team to meet quality, safety, and delivery standards while continuously improving processes and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Load and secure raw materials and tooling, ensuring proper alignment and calibration before machining operations.
  • Monitor machining operations, make necessary adjustments to offsets and tool paths, and ensure parts meet dimensional and surface finish requirements.
  • Inspect finished components using appropriate measuring tools and inspection methods, and document results as required.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, identify root causes, and adjust programs, tooling, or setups to resolve problems and improve output quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of machines, tools, and work areas to support a safe and efficient production environment.
  • Collaborate with production team members to meet production schedules, optimize cycle times, and reduce scrap and rework.
  • Follow all established safety procedures, work instructions, and quality standards during daily operations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding production status, machine issues, and suggestions for process improvements.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience operating CNC milling machines, including both 3-axis and 5-axis equipment.
  • Proficiency in setting up and running CNC mills, including selecting and installing tooling, setting work offsets, and verifying programs.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, feeds and speeds, and cutting strategies for various materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience inspecting machined parts using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain consistent quality and meet production targets in a manufacturing environment.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills related to machining operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a precision machining or production shop environment.
  • Experience working in teams similar to established machining companies or contract manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement practices and an interest in optimizing machining processes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a production team.

Work Environment

You will work in a production environment as part of a team of approximately 30 people. The setting involves operating CNC milling equipment and collaborating closely with other machinists and production staff to meet shared goals. The role follows established production processes and safety practices, with a focus on teamwork, reliability, and consistent output.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Irving, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $90000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
