Machinist Job Family Operations Reports to: Production Manager FLSA Status: Non Exempt EEOC Class: Craft Worker

Summary: Sets up and operates on a production basis machines such as lathes, CNC mills, swiss, etc. Able to setup milling or lathe machines and make offset adjustments as needed. Inspects and measures work to assure conformance to prescribed tolerances and standards. Use shop math including trigonometry as required. This position may require the ability to perform simple to advanced inspection operations involving repetitive inspection techniques following written instructions to determine conformance of parts to specification.

Position Duties: Essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:

• Perform work assigned by department lead or supervisor. • Studies blueprints, drawings, sketches, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished part, sequence of operations, and set up requirements. • Perform the work described on bill of operations for your department and/or section. • Performs multiple set ups and operations to produce parts on a production basis. • Perform all work shown on the drawing and described in the notes that is applicable to your section and/or department. If the work order is unclear, refer to the detailed manufacturing instructions for visual purposes. • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, materials, and accessories on machining equipment. • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining operations. • All work performed must meet the blueprint specifications. • Verifies finished parts for conformance to specifications. • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Education & Experience: Good language skills. Read and interpret blueprints and drawings. 8 years of experience setting up and operating CNC machines. Must setup and operate mills and lathes in a safe and accurate manner. Must have basic knowledge of fixture use. Ability to establish speeds and feed rates for the machine. Ability to sharpen drills, end mills, lathe bits. Must protect parts from damage before, during, and after experience machining castings is a plus.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods and stand to perform work. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Safety glasses, shop coat, apron, proper shoes. Occasional exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, and fumes.

Pay: Compensation Range: $28.00 - $35.00
