Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Mill Set-Up / Operator to join a precision machining team in Owasso. This position is responsible for independently setting up and operating Okuma 460V and MU5000 CNC mills in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has strong setup skills, extensive machining knowledge, and the ability to adapt quickly to frequent part changeovers while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
Required Experience & Skills
2 5+ years of hands-on experience operating Okuma 460V and/or MU5000 CNC mills
Ability to independently perform machine setups with minimal supervision
Experience in high-mix, low-volume or prototype machining environments
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and machining documentation
Proficiency in tool selection, fixture setup, and work offset calibration
Experience with Okuma controls and G-code editing at the machine
Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, and material characteristics (steel, aluminum, etc.)
High school diploma or GED required (machining certificate preferred)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and operate Okuma 460V and MU5000 CNC milling machines
Load raw materials, install tooling and fixtures, and establish tool lengths and work offsets
Perform frequent machine setups with minimal supervision
Edit G-code programs at the machine to optimize machining operations as needed
Verify part dimensions using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
Perform in-process inspections and accurately document quality results
Communicate with programmers and engineers to resolve machining or production challenges
Maintain a clean, organized work area following 5S and company safety standards
Follow all quality procedures and production documentation requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience operating Okuma 460V and MU5000 machining centers
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems
Previous experience manufacturing aerospace, defense, or medical components
Experience with SPC, ERP job tracking systems, and setup reduction techniques
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift
Comfortable working around CNC machinery, coolant systems, and industrial equipment while wearing required PPE
Work Environment
