CNC Operator

Location: Mebane, NC
Shift: 2nd Shift

Your Role: CNC Operator

The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC-controlled production equipment to manufacture high-quality aluminum components according to engineering specifications and work instructions. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and experience working in a CNC manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines to produce aluminum components meeting quality and dimensional requirements
  • Load raw material and secure parts using appropriate fixturing and workholding methods
  • Make offset adjustments and tool changes as needed to maintain part quality
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and job travelers
  • Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances
  • Perform in-process inspections and document quality checks per procedures
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot basic issues related to tooling, materials, or machine operation
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and keep machines clean and organized
  • Meet production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards
  • Accurately enter production data and inspection results into computer-based systems
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures

Qualifications

  • Prior experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand basic GD&T concepts
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments
  • Basic understanding of CNC offsets, tooling, and machine controls
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Comfortable working in a production-focused environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines
  • Familiarity with aluminum machining
  • CNC certification or technical training

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to bend, stoop, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions
  • Comfortable working around industrial machinery and equipment
