    CNC Machinist – 3rd Shift
     
    Pay: $27.00–$33.00 per hour, plus 10% shift differential
    Starting pay is based on experience and skill level.
     
    Overview
    Jarvis Cutting Tools is seeking a 3rd Shift CNC Machinist to join our Manufacturing Department. We are open to both experienced CNC machinists and CNC operators who are ready to take the next step in their careers and develop their set-up and programming skills.
     
    The right candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience operating CNC equipment, strong mechanical aptitude, good math skills, and an interest in learning how to make adjustments and program machines using G-code. Previous G-code experience, coursework, or training is helpful, but you do not need to be an experienced CNC programmer.
     
    Because we invest heavily in training, we are looking for someone who brings a strong desire to learn, attention to detail, and pride in producing high-quality precision work.
     
    What You Will Learn and Do
    • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC manufacturing equipment.
    • Read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
    • Inspect parts to ensure they meet dimensional and quality requirements.
    • Make machine and tooling adjustments to maintain quality and improve results.
    • Complete required inspection and quality documentation.
    • Troubleshoot machining and production issues.
    • Develop the ability to understand, edit, and ultimately create G-code CNC programs.
    • Work independently on 3rd shift after completing the appropriate training.
     
    What We Are Looking For
    • Previous experience operating CNC machinery.
    • A desire to grow beyond machine operation into CNC setup and programming.
    • Some familiarity with G-code is preferred. This may come from hands-on experience, vocational or technical school coursework, college coursework, or other training.
    • Good basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to read measuring equipment and perform dimensional inspections.
    • Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
    • Pride in producing high-quality work.
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
    • Swiss CNC or CNC lathe experience is a plus but not required.
     
    Training and Schedule
     
    This is a full-time, 3rd Shift position.
     
    Training will be conducted on 1st Shift before transitioning to 3rd Shift. The length of 1st Shift training will depend on the candidate's previous CNC experience and skill level. An experienced machinist may require a shorter training period, while someone developing setup and programming skills should expect additional time working alongside our experienced team.
     
    The 10% 3rd Shift differential will apply during the 1st Shift training period.
