Compensation: $21.00 - $28.00 (commensurate with experience)
Position Summary
The CNC Machinist will use computer numeric controlled (CNC) machinery safely and accurately to perform a variety of functions. Will be responsible for setting-up and operating various pieces of equipment to create, modify, or assemble Aluminum Window and Door components. During production, you must monitor the machinery and conduct regular quality checks to ensure they are running properly and that the parts are being produced according to specifications. Accuracy is crucial to our production, so all candidates must have attention to detail and be extremely focused on their work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare, setup, and operate CNC Machine to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.
Perform machinist duties to carry out drilling and milling operations on aluminum or steel profiles.
Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and sketches to determine sequence and methods for machining components.
G-Code knowledge is preferred.
Work with work orders, engineering plans, blueprints, and prototypes.
Monitor machine speed and the run throughout the cycle, checking that specifications are met
Ensure that the CNC machinery is operating correctly and that pieces are cut to perfection.
Analyze products for quality and defects
Perform work in compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality expectations while supporting a production schedule
Perform all necessary machine maintenance as necessary lubricate workpieces and replace dull cutting tools
Actively identify and contribute opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency in assigned area
May assist with establishing work instructions and guidelines for Operators and Machinists to perform the functions of their jobs.
Participates in the company’s efforts to continuously improve in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
Report any safety or maintenance concerns to management immediately
Maintain proper housekeeping of work area; keep all work areas clean and organized and all machines, tools, and equipment and work surfaces free of oil, grease, etc.
Willing to learn and take on additional tasks as assigned; other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of experience as a CNC Machinist or similar role in a manufacturing or comparable work environment
Programming experience is a plus but not required
Experience in operating CNC equipment
Experience with CNC calculating, computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software is a plus
Experience using various Quality measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, rulers, and tape measures; must have good manual dexterity
Must be safety conscious working with equipment and follow safety procedures
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of CNC machines and able to setup
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
Basic knowledge in design, mathematics, mechanics, processing and production
Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desires result by reading blueprints, drawings, etc.
Ability to read and follow basic technical drawings and diagrammed instructions
Basic understanding of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Knowledge of safety rules and precautions necessary for working in a manufacturing environment
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment; cooperate and work proactively with others is a must
Good communication skills; ability to communicate with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Good attendance and punctuality is a must; reliable transportation
Problem-solving with basic troubleshooting skills is required
Ability to lift 30 pounds frequently
Ability to work flexible hours as needed; willingness to work overtime as needed
Attention-to-Detail; values precision and adhere to a high quality standards
Mechanical Skills; basic mathematical calculations using decimals, fractions and/or metrics
Ability to perform basic shop math
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
Work in an enclosed, indoor manufacturing/machine shop environment; exposed to dust, heat, humidity, and cold weather conditions dependent on local weather conditions. Required to work in areas that are near moving mechanical parts
Physical stamina and dexterity including the ability to regularly stand and walk up to 8-10 hours a day, bend, stoop, kneel, or squat
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 lbs. frequently
The noise level in the machine shop is considered moderate while operating machinery, equipment, and tools
Frequently use of fingers and hands to handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms
Have hand-eye coordination and are able to work in a physically demanding environment where standing is the norm
Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when accessing certain manufacturing areas.
