Shifts Available: 1st Shift (7:00 AM 4:00 PM) Position Summary The CNC Press Brake Operator sets up and operates CNC hydraulic and electric press brakes to bend, form, and shape precision sheet metal and plate components for aerospace, defense, and industrial clients. This role requires reading blueprints, selecting correct punch/die tooling, calculating bend allowances, and conducting first-piece and in-process inspections to meet tight tolerance standards. Key Responsibilities
Setup & Operation: Set up, program, and operate multi-axis CNC press brakes (e.g., Amada, Trumpf, or Cincinnati) according to job order routings and specifications.
Tooling Selection: Install, align, and change out standard and custom punch and die sets based on material thickness, bend radii, and bend angles.
Blueprint & Document Interpretation: Read engineering drawings, flat patterns, and shop travelers to determine correct sequence of bends, dimensions, and tolerances.
In-Process Quality Control: Perform dimensional checks on formed parts using calipers, height gauges, protractors, and radius gauges. Make machine back-gauge and ram offsets as necessary.
Material Handling & Safety: Safely load, position, and handle aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and carbon steel sheet metal parts. Adhere to all shop safety protocols and PPE guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 1+ years of CNC press brake setup and operation experience in a precision sheet metal or aerospace environment.
Technical Skills: Proficient in reading blueprints, understanding flat layout drawings, GD&T, and calculating bend deductions/allowances.
Measuring Tools: Skilled in using precision measurement instruments, including dial calipers, height stands, and digital protractors.
Physical Demands: Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs independently.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; trade school training in sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
