What a typical day looks like
- Set up and operate hydraulic press brakes to form sheet metal parts to spec.
- Perform CNC machine setups and changeovers to meet production demands.
- Read and interpret blueprints, templates, and technical drawings to guide your layout and fabrication.
- Plan bend sequences using your understanding of metal properties and bend allowances.
- Operate additional fabrication equipment, including notchers, rolls, hardware insertion machines, and CNC RAS panel benders.
- Carry out routine hydraulic system maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments.
- Verify part quality, hold tight tolerances, and correct deviations immediately.
- Partner with teammates to streamline workflow, boost efficiency, and reinforce safe practices.
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Pitch in across other production areas when needed.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience as a press brake operator or in comparable metal fabrication work.
- Solid understanding of hydraulics, hydraulic components, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in CNC setup, tooling selection, and machine adjustments.
- Ability to read and apply blueprints, bend deduction charts, and fabrication drawings.
- Hands‑on experience with hydraulic press brakes; experience with RAS panel benders is a plus.
- Knowledge of sheet metal processes and common hand tools.
- Strong problem‑solving skills; comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality output.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade certification preferred.
Physical requirements
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods on a concrete floor.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs or more as needed.
- Average manual dexterity to handle small tools and components.
