Key Responsibilities:
  • Process Development & Optimization
    • Design, implement, and refine CNC machining processes.
    • Select cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and parameters for optimal performance.
    • Reduce cycle times, scrap, and rework through continuous improvement.
  • Programming & Tooling
    • Create and modify CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, G Code.
    • Develop detailed process plans and work instructions for operators.
    • Ensure proper tooling design and setup for precision machining.
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Collaborate with Quality Control for first-piece inspections.
    • Apply statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis for defects.
    • Maintain compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Troubleshooting & Support
    • Diagnose machining issues and implement corrective actions.
    • Provide technical support to production teams and operators
    • Train staff on CNC processes and best practices.
  • Process documentation and standardization
    • Create and maintain process documentation including work instructions and PFMEA
    • Support to implement lean manufacturing principles
    • Collect and analyze data to implement improvements (cycle time, efficiency).
Skills & Qualifications
  • Technical Expertise
    • Strong knowledge of CNC programming, machining techniques, and CAD/CAM tools.
    • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
    • Fixture design and work supports
    • Understanding of materials science (metals, composites, plastics).
    • Experience in GROB and or SW Equipment
  • Problem-Solving
    • Ability to analyze process data and identify inefficiencies.
    • Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
    • 3–5 years of experience in CNC machining or process engineering.
    • Relevant certifications or work experience can sometimes equal for a formal degree.
    • Work Environment:
CNC Engineers generally work in manufacturing plants, factories, or production facilities. They may be involved in working with teams on the floor or collaborating with engineering teams in an office environment. Their role often requires frequent interaction with different departments, such as production, quality assurance, and design.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including noise, temperature variation, and mild confined spaces.
