    Role Summary

    The CNC Programmer 2 is responsible for transferring components and assemblies from 2d and 3d designs into CNC Programs for use by the fabrication team. This position will also be responsible for maintaining and improving both programs and manufacturing processes to ensure efficient operations. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

    Key Role Responsibilities- Core

    CNC PROGRAMMING FAMILY- CORE

    • Utilizes knowledge of various machines and material types when creating programs
    • Reads blueprints and other instructions to understand specifications for each component
    • Diagnose basic errors or machining defects to improve component quality
    • Creates or modifies programs for a variety of machines
    • Collaborates with fabricators, designers, engineers and other facility personnel to correct errors during the production process
    • Validates programs before implementing in the production process
    • Selects appropriate tool, fixture or machine parameters for each job
    • Gains experience with additional machines after achieving proficiency
    • May program machines on shop floor terminal or utilizing personal computer

    Key Role Responsibilities- Additional Core

    In addition, this role will be responsible for:

    • Displays mastery of one or more machines utilized within the facility, performing operations on various types of metal or wood
    • Troubleshoots issues identified before or during the production process
    • Identifies opportunities for increased efficiency, optimizing code for regularly used components
    • Collaborates with designers, recommending adjustments to component designs as needed to ease production
    • Maintains understanding of emerging trends and technologies

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner
    • Communication skills, verbal and written
    • Ability to follow-up on inquiries in a timely manner
    • Ability to identify common construction materials and shop equipment
    • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally

    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
    • Apprentice and/or Vocational/Technical/Trade training (Preferred)
    • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

    Experience

    • 2+ years machine maintenance, operation or programming experience (Preferred)

    Working Environment

    • Must be able to lift at least to 50 pounds
    • Normal office environment, but may be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
    • Maintenance facility environment, may be exposed to varying temperatures, moving equipment, noise and exhaust fumes
    • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet business needs
    • May require working overtime as needed
    • May require use of respirator
    • Occasional activity: Standing, Walking, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder
    • Frequent activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen
