Job Description

CNC Programmer – 3, 4 & 5 Axis

Do you enjoy taking a complex aerospace drawing and figuring out exactly how to machine it?
As our CNC Programmer, you'll turn engineering designs into the programs, tooling, and processes used to manufacture highly complex aerospace components.
You'll work with NX, CATIA, Vericut, 3-, 4- and 5-axis machining, developing and verifying programs before they ever reach the production floor.
Whether you're growing your CNC programming career or you're an experienced programmer who can take on advanced 5-axis parts, we have opportunities at multiple levels.
Your programs will directly support the manufacturing of precision components used in fighter jets, satellites, and some of today's most advanced aerospace programs.
If you're ready to put your programming and machining knowledge to work on something bigger,
then KEEP READING and APPLY NOW!
Why Join Orizon Aerostructures?
We manufacture and assemble some of the most complex monolithic machined parts using some of the fastest, most advanced CNC machines and manufacturing technologies in the world.
You'll work alongside experienced programmers, engineers, machinists, and quality teams while continuing to build your skills and take on increasingly complex aerospace programs.
What's in This for You:
Competitive Pay:$25 - $55 per hour based on experience and location

  • Review and interpret aerospace drawings, customer requirements, and GD&T
  • Develop CNC programs using NX and/or CATIA
  • Design tooling, fixtures, workholding, and machining processes
  • Program 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining based on your experience level
  • Use Vericut to simulate and verify programs before releasing them to production
  • Work directly with Manufacturing/Application Engineering, Planning, and Quality to improve production processes
  • Develop setup sheets, operation instructions, and work instructions
  • Support first-piece acceptance and establish in-process verification requirements
  • Troubleshoot programming and machining issues
  • Improve first-pass yield, cycle times, programming hours, and overall machining performance
  • Participate in Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations
  • Maintain and archive proven programs for production
  • Support production to keep quality and delivery schedules on track

What You Need to Succeed:
  • CNC programming experience in a machining/manufacturing environment
  • Experience with NX and/or CATIA
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
  • Understanding of cutting tools, tool holders, cutter geometry, boring bars, inserts, fixtures, and workholding
  • Ability to develop machining processes and tooling for CNC programs
  • Knowledge of precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and indicators
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Operations
  • Aerospace or aerostructures experience strongly preferred
  • Vericut experience preferred
Your Experience Will Determine Your Level:
Level 1 – CNC Programmer
  • Program basic 3-axis parts
  • Develop tooling and processes using established programming plans
  • Interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Use NX/CATIA and Vericut to support program development and verification
  • Participate in RCCA and production process improvements
Level 2 – CNC Programmer
  • Independently program 3- and 4-axis parts
  • Program basic 5-axis parts with minimal supervision
  • Build Vericut projects to verify CAM processes
  • Design workholding and tooling for your programs
  • Work toward first-pass yield, cycle-time, and programming-hour goals
  • Provide technical support to Level 1 Programmers
Level 3 – Senior CNC Programmer
  • Independently program complex 3-, 4- and 5-axis aerospace parts
  • Develop workholding and tooling for complex programs
  • Build Vericut machine, control, and tool-management files
  • Lead RCCA investigations
  • Mentor and train Level 1 and Level 2 Programmers
Level 4 – Advanced CNC Programmer
  • Handle the most advanced programming responsibilities across 3-, 4- and 5-axis machining
  • Build and modify post processors using NX Post Builder, ICAM, Post Works, and related tools
  • Build machine-control and simulation models for new and existing CNC equipment
  • Develop and manage advanced tool libraries
  • Evaluate and implement new programming, software, and tooling technologies
