Develop, modify, and optimize CNC/NC programs for machining aerospace parts and tooling.
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, models, and manufacturing requirements to determine machining methods and sequences.
Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, machining parameters, and tool paths considering material, part geometry, machine capability, quality, and cost.
Develop machining sequences, reference points, coordinate systems, and cutting paths using CAD/CAM and applicable NC programming software.
Support machine setup and program prove-out/trial runs, identify programming or machining issues, and implement necessary corrections.
Revise existing programs to incorporate engineering changes, tooling changes, process improvements, and corrective actions.
Troubleshoot machining problems and work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and other cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve cycle time, quality, tooling utilization, productivity, and manufacturing cost.
Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous-improvement activities related to machining and manufacturing processes.
Maintain current technical knowledge of CNC programming, machining technology, tooling, CAD/CAM systems, and aerospace manufacturing practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of CNC/NC programming principles and programming languages.
Ability to manually create, review, edit, and troubleshoot CNC/NC programs.
Good knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and technical documentation.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM and applicable CNC programming software.
Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing and machine-shop operations.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to apply Lean and continuous-improvement principles to manufacturing processes.
Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and manage multiple activities.
Strong communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
