Description

  • Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements to develop machining strategies.
  • Create efficient CNC milling programs using Mastercam.
  • Develop fixtures, tooling, and workholding solutions for complex components.
  • Generate setup sheets, work instructions, and related manufacturing documentation.
  • Modify existing CNC programs and fixtures to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Set up and operate various CNC equipment, including 3-axis and 5-axis machining centers, EDM, and waterjet equipment when needed.
  • Support prototype and low-volume production manufacturing.
  • Create 2D and 3D CAD models from blueprints, sketches, or customer drawings as required.
  • Select and set up tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters.
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, including machining time, setup requirements, tooling, and fixturing.
  • Troubleshoot machining, programming, and production issues.
  • Train operators and provide technical support to manufacturing personnel.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, calibration activities, and production reporting.

Profile

A successful CNC Programmer should have:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of CNC programming experience using Mastercam or similar CAM software.
  • Minimum 2 years of machine shop experience, including CNC setup and operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
  • Experience troubleshooting CNC programs and machining processes.
  • Ability to edit and understand NC code.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
