    Description

    CNC programming engineer shall be responsible for the tool selection, setup instructions and code generation for CNC mills and lathes.

    The duties shall include but not be limited to the following:

    • Read and interpret detail drawings or sketches and job specifications with a clear understanding of GD&T.
    • Program CNC equipment by creating tools paths using solid modeling CAM software.
    • Drawing skills using CAD software to draw basic to intermediate complexity workholding, fixtures, or tooling related to the machining processes.
    • Specify proper tooling to perform manufacturing operations and create detailed tooling data sheets.
    • Determine part orientation, layout, workholding, sequence of operations, etc., and create illustrated setup sheets.
    • Knowledge of variety of materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, aluminum, sand castings (alum & iron), die castings and weldments.
    • Assist foreman, setup men or operators with machining of parts.
    • Make machine adjustments, program edits, check dimensions, etc., as necessary for parts to conform to drawing specifications.
    • Assist the Quality department during the inspection process.
    • May be required to assist with supervision as needed.

    Requirements:

    • AS Degree in Mfg engineering/Machine tool technology or equivalent experience.
    • Moderate to advanced experience with setup and operation of CNC Equipment preferred.
    • Accept direction and projects from Manager of Manufacturing Engineering.
    • Maintain cooperative and open communication with all personnel and departments.
    • Ability to read accurately and write clearly, perform mathematic calculations.
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
    • Support Continuous Improvement activities.
    • Follow all Hilliard Safety regulations.
