Primary objective: Develop, maintain, and improve CNC programs and machining processes to support safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. The role works with large industrial motor and generator components and collaborates closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and shop-floor teams.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and maintain CNC programs using GibbsCAM
Program horizontal boring mills, vertical/horizontal lathes, and vertical machining centers
Select tooling and optimize machining strategies, feeds, and speeds
Provide production support with setups and troubleshooting
Develop machining processes for large components such as shafts, frames, bearing brackets, bases, and covers
Read and interpret 2D engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D models
Develop basic fixtures, workholding solutions, and machining aids
Support continuous improvement, safety, quality, productivity, and setup reduction
Maintain CNC program documentation
Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations on production problems
Required/preferred background:
Associate degree in CNC Programming, Machining Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent practical experience
3+ years CNC programming experience
CAM experience, preferably GibbsCAM
Fanuc controls
Milling, boring, turning, and large-component machining
Knowledge of tooling, workholding, feeds and speeds
Ability to read engineering drawings/GD&T/3D CAD models
Production troubleshooting and strong communication/problem-solving skill
