Job Overview

The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing documenting and optimizing efficient CNC machining processes that meet both internal and customer requirements. This role performs various Manufacturing Engineering functions including process improvement CNC programming and tooling development solutions.

The ideal candidate will be able to create programs for singleflow and multiflow Mills Lathes and complex MillTurn multitasking machines. The individual must be highly knowledgeable in both singleflow and multiflow machine strategies capable of troubleshooting machine issues diagnosing setup problems and supporting shop floor personnel. Additional responsibilities include identifying tooling gauging and fixturing needs inspecting parts to print specifications and ensuring that all tooling is properly maintained through our Tooling Management provider.

Responsibilities

Review drawings to understand requirements tolerances and material considerations in order to develop proper machining strategies.

Design tooling fixturing and gauging using software such as AutoCAD GibbsCAM and Creo to meet part print specifications.

Execute PPAPFirst Article processes to ensure parts meet drawing and quality requirements.

Create CNC programs and Job Instruction Sheets JIS for multiaxis mills and lathes.

Develop and evaluate part processes to drive continuous improvement.

Manage BOM changes through Windchill change notices CNs.

Update and maintain part routings in QAD.

Lead and support continuous improvement projects focused on waste reduction process optimization and modernization of machining processes.

Troubleshoot CNC programs tooling work holding gauging and bar feeders.

Provide programming and technical support to shop floor production personnel.

Demonstrate safe operation of equipment and maintain compliance with all safety requirements.

Work independently with self motivation flexibility and the ability to shift priorities as needed in a fast-paced environment.

Collaborate effectively in a team environment and maintain strong interpersonal and cross functional communication skills.

Requirements

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma GED.

5 years of CNC programming experience.

5 years of experience in CADCAM software such as GibbsCAM Mastercam AutoCAD and similar platforms.

Ability to manually write and edit CNC code particularly for multitasking machines.

Strong understanding of tooling principles and proper tool selection based on part features materials and modern machining practices.`Solid knowledge of GD&T and its application in part inspection.

Understanding of gauging methods and their proper use.

Ability to set up and operate CNC equipment as well as train others in a professional environment.

Ability to work effectively in a fast paced high speed environment while following standardized work and maintaining safe work practices within a continuous improvement culture.

Experience with Microsoft Office applications.

Safety Requirements - Must wear required PPE safety glasses steel-toe shoes hearing protection and gloves as needed and complete all safety and JSA training prior to assignment.

Physical Demands - Requires regular standing walking and use of hands with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and meet necessary vision requirements with assistance for heavier items as needed.

Core Competencies

Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with different levels of management.

Strong verbal written and leadership skills.

Preferences

Degree in Engineering or completion of a technical vocational program.

Travel & Work Arrangements

Work Environment - Works in a loud manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery moving parts and industrial oils and coolants within regulated safety limits.
