Job Description

Job Description: CNC Programmer

This role focuses on programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to support a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. You will create and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam and Mazatrol, determine machining sequences, and ensure parts meet precise dimensional and quality requirements. The position offers exposure to advanced multi-axis equipment, custom tooling, and cutting-edge products, with strong business stability and clear opportunities for growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Program CNC mills, lathes, and multi-task equipment using Mastercam and Mazatrol to produce complex components.
  • Set up CNC machines, including tooling, fixturing, and workholding, to ensure efficient and accurate machining operations.
  • Operate and maintain CNC machines, monitoring performance and making adjustments to optimize cycle times and part quality.
  • Interpret and apply G and M codes and Mazatrol programming to create, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications to determine machining requirements and tolerances.
  • Determine machining sequence and methodology, including tool paths, speeds, feeds, and work offsets, to achieve optimal results.
  • Identify, select, and procure appropriate cutting tools and tooling solutions required to perform CNC machining functions.
  • Diagnose machining and programming issues, replace or repair parts as needed, and test or prove out new or revised programs.
  • Establish and perform in-process inspections and monitoring of key dimensions using CNC controls and standard measuring equipment and gaging.
  • Perform Machinist and Toolmaker duties, including setup, adjustment, and fine-tuning of machines and tooling to meet specifications.
  • Collaborate with machinists and other team members to support production schedules and resolve technical issues on the shop floor.
  • Assist with tooling-related activities, including supporting in-house tooling fabrication and contributing to sourcing and procurement efforts with suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of programs, setups, and process changes to support repeatability and continuous improvement.
  • Support a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area, following established procedures and best practices.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3+ years of CNC programming experience.
  • Proficiency in programming CNC mills, lathes, and multi-task equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with Mastercam software for CNC programming.
  • Experience with Mazatrol programming for Mazak equipment.
  • Practical experience with Integrex i Series machines, including 5-axis capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of G-Code and M-Code programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to determine machining sequences, methodologies, and tool paths.
  • Experience setting up CNC machines, including tooling and fixturing.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve CNC machining and programming issues.
  • Competence with standard measuring equipment and gaging for dimensional inspection.
  • Capability to perform Machinist and Toolmaker duties in a production environment.
