CNC Programmer / Machinist - 5-Axis Machining

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for 3-axis and 5-axis machining operations, with a primary focus on 5-axis programming.
• Create efficient toolpaths using Mastercam or CAMWorks.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and manufacturing specifications and set up the machines in accordance with these blueprints.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies.
• Optimize programs to improve cycle times, tool life, part quality, and machine utilization.
• Perform program verification and identify potential collisions or machining issues before production.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot machining and programming challenges.
• Support production by making program adjustments and improvements as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation and revision control for CNC programs.
• Follow company safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.

Qualifications

Required

• 1-5 years of CNC programming experience, with hands-on experience in 5-axis machining.
• Proficiency with Mastercam or CAMWorks.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D CAD models.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, workholding, feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies.
• Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and optimize CNC programs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred

• Experience machining composite materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, or other advanced composites.
• Experience with aerospace, defense, or other high-precision manufacturing.
• Familiarity with CNC machine setup and operation.
• Knowledge of inspection methods and quality requirements.
• Experience with complex 5-axis simultaneous machining and multi-axis toolpath strategies.

Compensation Range

Hourly Rate: $35.50 - $38.00
