Description

CNC Programmer – Multi-Axis Machining & Custom Fixturing

Up to $45.00/Hour + Shift Premiums • Duluth, MN / Superior, WI Area • Direct-Hire

  • COMPENSATION: Up to $45.00/Hour Starting Baseline (scaling with technical Mastercam depth) + Shift Differentials (+$1.00 to +$2.00/hr) + Overtime Eligibility + Full Benefits
  • SCHEDULE: Flexible 1st Shift (6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, or 8:00 AM starts) | Off-shift options available
  • SOFTWARE & SKILLS: Mastery of Mastercam for multi-axis programming from scratch, 3D CAD data analysis, blueprint/GD&T literacy, and custom fixture design
  • EXPERIENCE: 4+ years of independent Mastercam programming experience, OR a formal Technical Degree/BSME with high-level Mastercam proficiency
  • ROLE HIGHLIGHTS: High-autonomy, engineering-focused seat owning full program development, workholding design, and DFM reviews alongside Design Engineering
  • REQUIREMENTS: US Citizen or Green Card holder residing within a comfortable daily commute of the Duluth, MN / Superior, WI area

If you are an elite CNC programmer looking to move away from mundane, repetitive production tracking and offset tweaks, this direct-hire engineering role offers total process ownership. The employer is a globally recognized market leader in heavy demolition and scrap attachment manufacturing. Operating with a family-oriented culture where technical expertise is genuinely respected, they provide an advanced shop environment that completely rejects corporate bureaucracy.

In this high-impact role, you will own the entire manufacturing lifecycle—developing complex, multi-axis Mastercam programs from scratch, designing custom workholding jigs and fixtures, and collaborating directly with Design Engineering on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews. It is the ideal setup for a sharp programmer seeking long-term organizational stability, a collaborative team, and an environment where average employee tenures are measured in years, not months.

What You Will Be Doing (Daily Responsibilities)

  • Develop, verify, and optimize complex CNC programs from scratch using Mastercam for multi-axis milling and turning centers.
  • Analyze 3D CAD data, engineering job orders, and industrial prints to establish operational sequences, select optimal cutting tools, and calculate speeds and feeds.
  • Design custom workholding jigs and manufacturing fixtures to ensure precise part positioning and maximize machine throughput.
  • Maintain and audit the central CNC program database, ensuring digital routing files and program files are accurately maintained across machine centers.
  • Provide shop floor engineering support, troubleshooting complex setups, tooling issues, macro code, and machining roadblocks alongside production machinists.
  • Drive process optimization initiatives, conducting cycle-time analyses, refining toolpaths, and reducing material scrap.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements & Qualifications)

  • 4+ years of hands-on Mastercam programming depth OR a BSME / Technical Degree paired with strong Mastercam capability.
  • Multi-Axis Machining Foundation: Deep understanding of tooling selection, speeds/feeds, and complex process development (5-axis exposure or Visual Basic macro knowledge is a major plus).
  • Technical Literacy: Advanced capability in blueprint reading, GD&T application, and precision inspection methods.
  • Diagnostic Instincts: Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot active machining issues and support floor setup personnel.
  • Career Stability: A rock-solid, progressive employment history demonstrating long-term commitment and technical growth with past employers.
  • Local Proximity: Residing within a dependable daily commute of the Greater Duluth, MN / Superior, WI area.
