About the Role
The CNC Programmer / Prototyping Specialist will be responsible for the full machining process for R&D and development projects, from programming and setup through machining, inspection, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and support the prototyping department and machining processes.
Collaborate with Engineering on R&D projects and provide manufacturing feasibility feedback.
Develop CNC programs, setups, and machining processes for prototype and production parts.
Program and operate 5-axis Matsuura, Haas UMC, and Haas VF mills.
Create detailed process documentation to ensure repeatability.
Design and manufacture fixtures for improved process consistency.
Develop Renishaw probing routines to improve productivity and automate quality processes.
Create CMM inspection programs for R&D and development projects.
Optimize machining strategies while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Troubleshoot CNC machines and machining processes.
Communicate project timelines, estimates, and progress with internal stakeholders.
Work closely with Quality Control to support metrology and inspection efforts.
Operate CNC equipment as needed to support production demands.
Qualifications
4–6+ years of CNC programming experience using Mastercam.
4+ years of manufacturing or engineering technician experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Associate degree in a technical or related field preferred.
Strong CAD/CAM programming experience.
Experience with CNC machining and prototyping.
Experience with 5-axis machining strongly preferred.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and manufacturing documentation.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality systems.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
Experience with root cause analysis and process control.
