Job Full Description

Our client, a family-owned manufacturing company in Northeast San Antonio, is looking for a CNC Machinist for a long term, evaluation-hire opportunity. Pay is $17-$19 an hour depending on experience. The company is looking for someone to become part of the family. It's a great opportunity to join a close-knit community. The job requires both thinking through an assembly/fabrication plan and production welding of multiple products. Duties for the CNC Machinist position include:
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math and proving part programs.
  • Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position
  • Performing basic math calculations
  • Programming and Operating CNC Machining Centers
  • Mazatrol conversational programing
  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating devices; tramming heads.
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math and proving part programs.
Requirements for the CNC Machinist position are:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least 4 years' previous experience in set and operation of CNC multi-axis lathes, 4-axis horizontal milling and vertical milling.
  • Previous experience with Mazak Mill and Lathe Centers required
  • Must have basic math skills, a strong understanding of print reading, a good knowledge of tool holders and precision measuring instruments
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand process specifications

This is a long term, evaluation hire opportunity. Hours for the CNC Machinist position are 7am to 6pm Monday through Thursday. Pay is $17-$19 an hour depending on experience.
