Our client is seeking a CNC Programmer / Setup Machinist to combine CAM programming with hands-on machine setup, prove-out, and first-piece validation for precision components. The role supports new product introduction and repeat production in a high-mix manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and modify CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and CNC lathes
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements
  • Select tooling, workholding, and machining strategies
  • Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, offsets, and program verification
  • Run and validate first-piece components
  • Troubleshoot setup, tooling, programming, and machine-performance issues
  • Create repeatable setups and clear operator instructions
  • Improve cycle time, tool life, and process efficiency
  • Maintain CNC programs, setup sheets, and work instructions
  • Support first-article and in-process inspection requirements
  • Maintain safety, quality, and 5S standards

Requirements

  • At least five years of combined CNC programming and setup experience
  • Strong experience with Mastercam, NX, or similar CAM software
  • Multi-axis machining experience
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and machining mathematics
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complete setups and prove out new jobs
  • Experience producing tight-tolerance components
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace or similarly regulated manufacturing experience
  • Experience machining titanium, tungsten, or other exotic materials
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume production
  • Familiarity with Haas, Mazak, DMG Mori, Okuma, or similar platforms

Compensation

$40.00-$45.00 per hour.
