We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / Tool and Die Maker to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, programming, manufacturing, repairing, and maintaining tooling and precision machine components that support production operations. The ideal candidate has strong CNC machining experience, is proficient in CAD/CAM software, and is committed to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while adhering to EH&S requirements, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Design tooling and machine components using CAD software.
  • Develop CNC machining programs using CAM software and CNC controls.
  • Set up and operate CNC machining centers, CNC precision grinders, manual mills, and lathes to manufacture or repair tooling and machine parts.
  • Perform on-demand and scheduled repairs for production tooling and equipment components.
  • Collaborate with Production Control to evaluate and assign tooling for batch record creation.
  • Partner with Maintenance to identify, evaluate, and address tooling requirements.
  • Ensure all machining equipment operates safely, efficiently, and within required tolerances.
  • Maintain and align manual mills, lathes, and other machine shop equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and waste reduction.
  • Support engineering projects and other duties as assigned by the Sr. Manager, Engineering.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of machining practices, machine shop operations, and inspection methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience operating CNC and manual mills, lathes, and precision grinding equipment.
  • Ability to manufacture precision components with tolerances as tight as ±0.0003 inch.
  • Proficiency with CAD, CAM, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two-year vocational or technical education in Machine Shop Technology or a related field.
  • At least one year of Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) experience.
  • Five years of Class A Machinist experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb stairs throughout the workday.
  • Frequently lift and move materials weighing 25-50 pounds and occasionally lift heavier items.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances.
  • Good manual dexterity and the ability to use precision measuring and machining equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, respiratory protection, and protective clothing as required.

Work Environment

This position works in both an office and manufacturing environment. The role requires close collaboration with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams while maintaining strict adherence to quality, safety, and manufacturing standards.
