CNC Setup Operator

CNC Setup Operator Raptor Scientific, a global Aerospace & Defense test and measurement company, is seeking an experienced CNC Setup Operator to set up and operate multi -axis CNC lathes and mills, bar feeders, and robotic systems. This individual will perform a wide range of machining operations -including turning, boring, drilling, milling, reaming, grinding, threading, and live tooling -in a high -mix, precision manufacturing environment. This role requires technical expertise, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and efficiency.

The full -time hours for this posit ion are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. -5:00 p.m. and every other Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Full benefits package available after 30 days . RESPONSIBILITES

• Set up and operate 4 -7 axis CNC mills and lathes with live milling and/or Y -axis capability in multi -machine cells; run multiple machines as permitted
• Read and follow engineering drawings, process sheets, and work orders to machine forgings, castings, bar stock, and composites to required tolerances
• Perform machining operations including turning, facing, deburring, boring, drilling, milling, reaming, tapping, threading, slotting, grooving, sawing, and grinding
• Make program edits as directed; apply knowledge of feeds, speeds, and spindle parameters across various materials
• Set up and indicate fixtures and tooling; gather tools required per setup or process sheets, using practical judgment when documentation is limited
• Use DNC and related tools to upload/download CNC programs
• Verify dimensional accuracy using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, comparators, and other inspection instruments; apply self -quality throughout production
• Participate in program prove -outs, manufacturing planning, and scheduling; provide feedback on setup sheets and CAM process design
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce cycle time
• Assist with training and mentoring machine operators on CNC operations
• Maintain a clean and organized work area consistent with 6S standards; perform minor equipment maintenance and daily recordkeeping
• Report promptly to management when production standards are not being met

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED required

• 3-5 years of CNC setup and operation experience, including 4 -7 axis mills and lathes with live milling capability

• Strong proficiency in G -code, M -code, and CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SolidWorks, or equivalent)

• Knowledge of CNC lathe and mill controls, cutting tools, and material properties (aluminum, steel, titanium, plastics)

• Proficiency with standard measuring tools: micrometers, calipers, gauges

• Solid trigonometry and math skills for precision measurement and programming

• Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, and Siemens controls; ability to troubleshoot machining and manufacturing issues

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, process sheets, and maintenance documentation

• Proven ability to train and mentor team members

OTHER SKILLS :

• 5+ years of CNC experience with Mastercam programming on 4 -7 axis mills and lathes
• Experience with multi -axis and dual -spindle machines
• Experience with pneumatic tubing and pressure systems
• Ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Fluent with MS Office products: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Physical ability to lift or assist with lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to stand for up to 4 hours a day and/or sit, type and use mouse for up to 6 hours a day.
