    Job Description

CNC Swiss Lead Operator & Setup Coordinator

Ready to guide a team and deliver flawless parts in a fast-moving shop? At Lusk Quality, we rely on leaders who can translate drawings into reality, stabilize processes, and elevate operator performance.

    What you’ll tackle

Picture this: a customer deadline approaches, tolerance bands are tight, and a new job hits the floor. You review the work order and blueprint, select the cutting tools and attachments, set up the Swiss machine, and run the first piece. With micrometers and calipers, you verify dimensions and adjust offsets to lock in capability. You coach operators on best practices, keep safety and policies front-and-center, and monitor cycle times to ensure the schedule holds. When issues arise, you dig into root causes and implement time- and cost-efficient fixes. Between runs, you perform routine maintenance to keep machines ready for the next challenge.

    Core responsibilities

    • Lead, mentor, and support Swiss machine operators to meet quality, cycle time, and delivery targets.
    • Set up and operate Swiss machines to produce precise components.
    • Interpret blueprints/engineering drawings; plan and execute machining operations.
    • Select/install tools, attachments, and accessories; optimize machine parameters.
    • Continuously monitor operations and adjust settings to maintain specifications.
    • Measure and qualify parts with precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
    • Troubleshoot equipment and process problems; implement durable solutions.
    • Perform routine maintenance and uphold a safe, policy-compliant workplace.

    What you bring

    • Leadership aptitude and experience directing operators.
    • High school diploma (or equivalent).
    • Previous Swiss machine operating experience.
    • Comfort with hand tools and precision measurement.
    • Ability to read prints; strong understanding of GD&T.
    • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for programming-related needs.
    • Materials handling experience for efficient part loading/unloading.
    • Detail-focused problem solver with strong troubleshooting skills.
    • Exposure to aerospace manufacturing; proficiency in Aerospace Manufacturing is preferred.

To support changing production needs, you may occasionally take on additional related duties.
