Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Swiss Screw Setup Machinist to set up and operate Swiss-style CNC machines to produce small, high-precision components for critical applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Swiss-type CNC lathes, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to independently manage machine setups while maintaining consistent part quality and production efficiency.
This position is well suited for a skilled machinist who takes ownership of setup and production results and enjoys working in a fast-paced, precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate Swiss-style CNC machines to manufacture high-precision components.
Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, GD&T, and setup sheets.
Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets.
Perform first-article inspections and make necessary machine adjustments to meet specifications.
Monitor machining processes and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
Troubleshoot and independently resolve setup, tooling, and machining issues.
Maintain accurate setup documentation and contribute to standardized procedures and best practices.
Work closely with programmers, engineers, and quality personnel to improve machining processes.
Perform routine machine maintenance and report mechanical or equipment issues.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
Mentor and support junior machinists and CNC operators when needed.
Participate in Lean, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required; technical training or certification preferred.
5 7 years of CNC machining experience, including at least 3 years of Swiss-style CNC setup and operation experience.
Strong experience with Swiss-type machines such as Citizen, Nakamura, Star, or Tsugami.
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints and GD&T.
Strong understanding of CNC controls, tooling, cutting parameters, and machining principles.
Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of machine setups and production outcomes.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to work flexible shifts and overtime as required.
