CNC Swiss-Type Setup & Programmer

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Swiss-Type Setup & Programmer to join our manufacturing team. This position will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating Star CNC Swiss-type machines to manufacture high-precision, close-tolerance components.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with precision CNC equipment, be able to independently read and interpret mechanical blueprints and setup documentation, and have strong knowledge of CNC programming, tooling, speeds, and feeds.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate Star CNC Swiss-type machines and manufacturing cells.
• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, setup sheets, work instructions, and control documents.
• Develop and interpret CNC programs using G-Code.
• Select appropriate cutting tools and determine proper cutting parameters, including speeds and feeds.
• Perform machine setups and document setup procedures for production jobs.
• Train other personnel on proper machine setup and operation.
• Inspect machined parts and make necessary work-offset adjustments to ensure products meet specifications.
• Coordinate machine setups and production schedules to meet project deadlines.
• Monitor project schedules and ensure jobs are completed within established timelines and budget requirements.
• Work closely with the Production team to identify and mitigate production risks.
• Ensure production standards, quality requirements, and performance goals are consistently met.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and work with minimal supervision.
• Maintain compliance with ISO quality policies and procedures.
• Read and follow Quality Control Plans and Work Instructions.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.
• Maintain professionalism and communicate effectively with coworkers and management.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience setting up and programming CNC machines in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience as a qualified CNC setup person.
• Strong knowledge of CNC programming and G-Code.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and setup sheets.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, tooling selection, speeds, and feeds.
• Experience checking precision-machined parts and making work-offset adjustments.
• Experience working with Quality Control Plans and Work Instructions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attendance, punctuality, and steady work history.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet production deadlines.
• Experience working with exotic metals is a plus.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
