A Day in the Life

You’ll start your shift in a climate-controlled factory supporting multiple product lines—Steam Turbine, Large Generator, Gas Turbine, and Combustion Components. With minimal oversight, you’ll plan, lay out, build, modify, repair, and assemble complex fixtures and machine tools. You’ll partner with internal customers to translate engineering intent into robust tooling and fixtures, switching confidently between conventional/manual equipment and advanced CNC platforms.

Depending on your background, we can align you to a focus area such as Lathe Machining, Vertical Boring Mill (VBM), and/or Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM).

What You’ll Do

  • Set up and run CNC equipment to machine a variety of parts and assemblies
  • Independently operate one or more of the following: CNC VBM (various control software), CNC Lathe, and CNC HBM (various control software)
  • Utilize workholding, tables, and custom fixtures to ensure accuracy and repeatability

What You Bring

  • High school diploma required; associate’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years in a tool room or equivalent skillset with strong GD&T fluency
  • Solid CNC background: machining fundamentals, offsets, metrology, and proficiency with at least one of the following—Lathe, Vertical Boring Mill, or Horizontal Boring Mill
  • Hands-on experience with manual machining, setups, tool wear monitoring, G-codes/M-codes, troubleshooting, and blueprint interpretation
  • Strong shop math and the ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, and charts; adept with precision measuring tools
  • The Career Readiness/Work Keys Certificate – Silver Status required
  • Ability to pass standard hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests
  • Physical demand: moderate, with occasional heavier lifting
