Direct-hire opportunity in Pomona, CA Compensation: $30–$35 per hour Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
A Day in the Role
You arrive before the first spindle turns, blueprint in hand. You verify the job traveler, pull the fixtures, and begin dialing in your lathe. Tool offsets are set with care; you adjust speeds and feeds until the cut sounds right and the chips look perfect. You run the first article, verify dimensions against the print with precision hand metrology, and sign off once everything hits spec. Throughout the day, you pivot between new setups and short production runs, troubleshooting tooling wear, tweaking offsets, and keeping quality tight. You’ll produce parts for both aerospace and commercial customers—no prior aerospace experience required.
What You’ll Do
Independently set up CNC lathes (2–4 axis) for first articles and production.
Interpret blueprints and GD&T to plan setups and verify features.
Own tooling selection, offsets, speeds, and feeds to achieve cycle stability.
Inspect your work using precision measurement and advanced gauges.
Collaborate with the team to solve machining challenges and keep jobs moving.
Must-Have Experience
Hands-on, independent CNC lathe setup background.
Blueprint reading with strong GD&T interpretation skills.
Precision measurement and first-article inspection experience.
Ability to troubleshoot tooling, offsets, speeds, and feeds.
Reliable commute to Pomona for the day shift (Mon–Thu).
Nice-to-Have Skills
Fanuc controls.
Live tooling.
Y-axis, sub-spindle, or bar feeder exposure.
Background in aerospace or medical parts.
AS9100 or ISO job-shop experience.
Materials: aluminum, stainless steel, titanium.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (technical machining education/certification is a plus).
Proven work as a CNC lathe operator/machinist with setup responsibilities.
Solid understanding of CNC programming concepts and machine setup procedures.
Familiar with G-code and M-code.
Comfort reading technical drawings and documentation.
Keen attention to detail and practical problem-solving.
Works well independently and within a fast-paced team.
Knowledge of shop safety best practices.
