CNC Turning Machinist, Aerospace Alloys
Do these statements sound like you?
- You can turn a complex print into a clean setup plan—choosing tools, planning offsets, and anticipating where tolerances get tight.
- You’re comfortable running lathes on 2nd shift with minimal oversight—checking, adjusting, and documenting as you go.
- Your micrometers, calipers, and height gauges are never far from reach, and you use them constantly to verify quality.
What you'll tackle
You’ll set up and operate CNC lathes machining metallic materials, interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and engineering specifications to produce precision parts. You’ll manage tool life, execute tool changes and offsets, and make on-the-fly adjustments to maintain part quality. Along the way, you’ll perform basic de-burr or rework on work-in-process and keep the cell clean, safe, and inspection-ready—while sharing ideas that make our processes better.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathes for precision turning.
- Interpret blueprints, sketches/shop drawings, and engineering specs.
- Execute tool changes, offsets, and adjustments to maintain quality.
- Inspect parts with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other metrology tools.
- Hold tight tolerances and high quality standards.
- Own tool life management to ensure consistency.
- Perform basic de-burr/rework on in-process components.
- Recommend improvements to tooling, programs, and setups.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Complete operator maintenance and other assigned duties.
What you bring
- 3+ years of CNC lathe experience.
- Ability to work independently on 2nd shift.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with solid shop arithmetic.
- Required: experience with G-code.
- Knowledge of general safety and quality systems.
- Team-oriented and willing to assist across manufacturing tasks.
Make your application stand out
- Aerospace experience and familiarity with materials like Inconel, titanium, and stainless.
- Proven tool life management strategies.
- Strong reading/writing skills for instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
- Experience setting up 3-axis machines.
