Shape precision parts on second shift in Rockford, IL
When the shop hums at 4:30 p.m., you’re the one who brings a CNC lathe to life. You load the program, dial in the offsets, verify tooling, and take that first cut with confidence. By night’s end, you’ve produced accurate components, supported your teammates, and kept production moving safely and efficiently.
What your shift looks like
- Set up and run CNC lathes and related machining equipment to meet spec and schedule
- Interpret blueprints, part drawings, and job routings to plan an efficient setup
- Load, unload, and manage machine programs; adjust offsets and tooling as needed
- Perform in-process inspections and final checks to ensure quality standards
- Spot production issues early, suggest process improvements, and communicate clearly
- Troubleshoot machine and production problems to minimize downtime
- Handle routine maintenance and keep equipment in top working order
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe throughout the shift
- Pitch in to help fellow operators and hit team production goals
What you bring
- Education: High school diploma (required)
- Experience: 2–5+ years working with CNC lathes; experience on CNC Puma, Daewoo, and/or Mazak equipment preferred
- Blueprint literacy and strong understanding of tolerances (required)
- Software: Mastercam experience is highly preferred
Compensation, schedule, and employment type
- Pay: $27.50–$38.50 per hour
- Type: Full-time, on-site, 2nd shift
- Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 4:30 p.m.–3:00 a.m.
