JOB TITLE: Child Nutrition Program Manager
RESPONSIBLE TO: Child Nutrition Program Coordinator and School Principal
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: One year of child nutrition experience. Posses or be able to obtain a Serv-Safe Certification according to the requirements set forth by the Jefferson County Health Department. Physical strength necessary to perform occasional lifting and carrying. Ability to teach the operation of food service equipment. Ability to maintain standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Appearance and personal cleanliness suited to working in close proximity to food service customers. Ability to work with and understand point of service software and possess some computer skills. Ability to work with others. Must maintain regular attendance.
JOB GOAL: To implement at each individual school cafeteria child nutrition program to ensure an attractive, nutritious meal is served in a timely manner and in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, organize and assist in preparing food and serving meals to students and staff. Set standard of efficiency, neatness, and sanitation in food preparation and storage. Develop work schedules to accommodate absenteeism and emergencies. Ensure that all equipment and supplies are available for the daily activities of the school
cafeteria.
Estimate food quantities needed. Borrow and transport food needed from other schools. Arrange and supervise proper storage of food and supplies. Maintain inventory of stock. Assumes responsibility for security of revenues from cafeteria sales and follow appropriate deposit procedures. Assign and instruct new personnel in proper work methods and procedures involved in food
preparation and serving.
Plans, directs and supervises cleaning schedules for all food service equipment, kitchen, and
serving areas.
Informs Child Nutrition Coordinator of any equipment or facility repairs that are needed. Attend all manager's meetings to confer with CNP Coordinator regarding the needs of the
food service operation. Those meetings are to be determined by the CNP Coordinator.
Prepare reports for nutritional and fiscal accountability as required. Keep accurate records, including time sheets, leave request, time clock override and petty
cash.
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions from supervisors. Attends job related training classes and workshops. Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the CNP Coordinator or school Principal. Perform basic computer skills such as: Email, spreadsheet entry, food purchases through the State of Alabama CNP purchasing website.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 182 days for Secondary 187 days for Elementary 8 hours a day
