The Head Coach is responsible for developing and implementing a competitive and educational soccer program that emphasizes sportsmanship, skill development, teamwork, leadership, personal growth, and academic success.\n \nOUR DISTRICT\n \nThe Sultan School District is one of the larger geographical school districts in the Puget Sound area, consisting of approximately 325 square miles. Sultan School District has approximately 2,200 students enrolled K-12. Students are currently served by two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and an alternative high school; and the Sno-Isle Skills Center, a cooperative vocational technical school.\n \nOUR COMMUNITY\n \nLocated northeast of Seattle (seven miles east of Monroe) or about 20 minutes from the Woodinville area, Sultan is surrounded by a beautiful environmental setting. Contact Human Resources, 360-793-9800, 514 4th Street, Sultan, WA 98294\n \nESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITITES\n \nThe successful candidate will create a positive and inclusive team culture, provide effective instruction, supervise assistant coaches, and serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.\n\n Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the middle school boys' soccer program.\n Conduct safe, structured, and engaging practices that focus on skill development and team concepts.\n Teach the fundamentals, rules, and strategies of soccer in an age-appropriate manner.\n Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and character development.\n Establish team expectations and maintain appropriate standards of conduct.\n Supervise student-athletes during practices, contests, transportation, and team activities.\n Coordinate game schedules, equipment needs, and program logistics with the Athletic Director.\n Recruit, supervise, and support assistant coaches and volunteers.\n Communicate effectively with students, families, school staff, and league officials.\n Ensure compliance with district policies, athletic eligibility requirements, and league regulations.\n Monitor and maintain inventory of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.\n Attend coaches' meetings, required trainings, and professional development opportunities.\n Foster a safe and inclusive environment that supports the success and well-being of all student-athletes.\n \nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\n\n High school diploma or equivalent.\n Demonstrated knowledge of soccer fundamentals, coaching techniques, and game strategy.\n Experience coaching or playing soccer at the youth, high school, collegiate, or club level.\n Ability to effectively lead, motivate, and mentor middle school student-athletes.\n Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.\n Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain prior to the start of the season.\n Successful completion of required background checks and district hiring requirements.\n \nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\n\n Previous head coaching experience in soccer or other team sports.\n Experience working with middle school-aged students.\n Completion of coaching education or certification programs.\n Knowledge of positive coaching strategies and student-athlete development.\n Experience supervising assistant coaches or volunteers.\n \nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES\n\n Soccer instruction, player development, and game management.\n Leadership and team-building skills.\n Effective communication with students, parents, and staff.\n Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.\n Time management and organizational abilities.\n Commitment to student safety and positive athletic experiences.\n Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor.\n \nPHYSICAL RQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT\n\n Ability to demonstrate soccer skills and techniques.\n Ability to stand, walk, run, and actively participate during practices and games.\n Ability to lift, carry, and move athletic equipment.\n Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.\n \nWork is typically performed outdoors; requires substantial extra-hours work, travel between sites, stamina and endurance, and physical exertion associated with demonstrating techniques; must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather; may be required to balance, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods; may be exposed to high noise levels and childhood diseases; and may experience a multitude of demands and changing priorities with frequent interruptions.\n \nCONDITIONS\n \nEMPLOYEES ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION.
