Description: Athletic Coach

Job Summary:

1. Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievment in the sport involved.

2. Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.

3. Works closely with the principal/athletic director in scheduling inter-scholastic contests.

4. Recommends purchases of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.

5. Maintains or provides necessary information for attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.

6. Supervises the safety and well being of the student athlete.

7. Oversees the safety conditions of teh facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.

8. Establishes and maintains performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in his/her sport.

9. Coordinates adn documents that the student athlete is physically fit to participate (medcal doctor examination).

10. Enforces discipline and sprotsmanship like behavior at all times, and established adn oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.

Qualifications:

1. Valid West Virginia teaching certificate appropriate for assignments.

2. Non-professional coaches/sponsors must have successfully completed the National Federation Interscholastic Coaches Education Program in Coaching Principles Course adn the National Federation Interscholastic Coaches Education Program in Sports First Aid Course. Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Supplemental-Salary Schedule #19-Days and supplemental pay shall be established per contract by Lincoln County Board of Education
