Embark on a Journey of Impactful Adventure

Assists in managing the implementation, development and delivery of the Competitive Swim program. Supports assigned staff and volunteers. Additional responsibilities include training of staff; curriculum development; and adhering to all regulatory and Association standards. The Age Group Swim Coach leads the Swim Team in providing a safe environment and provides leadership in expanding Swim Team programming.

What You'll Do

  • Oversees and coaches age group (12 and Under - mini, level 3, level 2) programming.

  • Communicate with 12 and Under members and parents on a regular basis

  • Assists Director of Competitive Aquatics or Associate Head Coach

  • with building a season plan (including meets) and work with Director of Competitive Aquatics to implement

  • in maintaining team database and all 12 and Under meet entries

  • training of junior coaches and assistant coaches

  • administration duties such as account management

  • as to what events should be attended and season plans according

  • manage coaching schedules and vacation schedules, ensuring coverage at all times

  • in offering a year-round program that includes YMCA short course and long course options as well as a competitive summer league.

  • assist in recruitment and retention of program participants.

  • develop and oversee the practice schedule of all levels, attend all meets and support the entire competitive program.

  • Facilitates summer swim program

  • Manages and organize participation, registration and logistics of swimmers at dual meets.

  • Creates home swim meets, meet manager duties, as well as team entries

  • Creates and organizes volunteers for events and being point of contact for volunteer communication for our dual meets

  • Teaches and instructs participants through use of an appropriate curriculum that addresses the skill levels of all participants and assures the program is inclusive and welcoming for all.

  • Coordinates vacation outside of the competitive season responsibilities.

  • Assists with annual campaign activities.

What You'll Need

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Competitive Swimming Experience for a minimum of 4 years preferred
  • Current Lifeguard certifications or obtain certification within 30 days of hire
  • Must have at least 2 years of coaching experience with swimmers of all ages
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • YMCA and USA swimming coaches' credential or obtain certification within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to demonstrate all swim strokes
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff required
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
  • Display a positive and professional attitude and possess strong interpersonal skills
