    Coating Inspector – Natural Gas Interconnect & Metering Facility


    Location: North Carolina

    Duration: 4+ months


    Overview

    We are seeking a Coating Inspector to support construction of a new natural gas interconnect and metering facility, including yard piping, fittings, and tie-in connections. This role is responsible for verifying surface preparation, coating application, and testing to meet project specifications and applicable standards.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Inspect surface preparation (blasting/cleaning) for compliance with specification and SSPC/NACE standards
    • Monitor coating application (FBE, liquid epoxy, tape wrap, shrink sleeves, etc.) for proper thickness, cure, and coverage
    • Perform dry film thickness (DFT) measurements and holiday (jeeping) testing on coated pipe, fittings, and girth welds
    • Verify environmental conditions (surface temperature, humidity, dew point) meet coating manufacturer requirements prior to and during application
    • Inspect field-applied coatings at tie-ins, hot-taps, and repair locations
    • Document coating inspection results, including DFT readings, holiday test results, and repair tracking
    • Identify and document coating defects or non-conformances; verify repairs and re-inspect
    • Coordinate with Chief Inspector and QA/QC on non-conformance resolution
    • Enforce site safety requirements and participate in job hazard analyses


    Required Qualifications

    • 5+ years of pipeline/facility coating inspection experience
    • NACE/AMPP Coating Inspector certification (Level 1 or 2) required
    • Working knowledge of coating systems used in pipeline/facility construction (FBE, epoxy, tape wrap)
    • Experience with DFT gauges, holiday detectors, and surface profile testing
    • Strong documentation skills; experience with coating inspection logs and reports
    • Valid driver's license; able to travel to site and work outdoors in varied conditions
