Coating Machine Operator

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Coating Machine Operator in Santa Rosa, California for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This onsite position supports coating operations by processing, inspecting, and loading parts, maintaining coating equipment, and performing in-process measurements in a production environment. The role requires strong mechanical ability, comfort working on your feet for most of the shift, and flexibility to support multiple shift schedules.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with and on production machines
• Experience using hand tools such as hand drills, orbital sanders, and grinders
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings
• Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and adapt to process changes
• Basic math skills and intermediate computer skills for data entry, machine operation, and report generation
• Ability to stand and remain on your feet for approximately 80% of the shift
• Ability to move fluidly from task to task and platform to platform
• Ability to lift up to 38 lbs frequently and occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 45 lbs
• Ability to wear a respirator and complete required spirometry testing during onboarding
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
• Shift flexibility to work any assigned shift schedule

Preferred Skills

• Prior coating or related experience
• One-year certificate from a college or technical school
• Strong mechanical or electrical skills

What You’ll Do

• Operate coating machines and follow precise process instructions
• Process, inspect, clean, and load parts into the coating chamber
• Perform coating machine maintenance, including equipment assembly and disassembly, bead blasting, and target changes
• Use grinders and other small hand tools in support of production tasks
• Perform in-process measurements on coated material
• Maintain workplace housekeeping and support safe, organized operations
• Assist with troubleshooting and repairs as needed
• Perform other duties assigned in support of coating operations

Work Schedule / Shift

• Must be flexible to work any of the following shifts:
• Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Monday through Thursday, 1:00 PM - 11:30 PM
• Monday through Thursday, 9:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Friday through Sunday, 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
