Required Education • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field

Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience • 2–3 years of demonstrated laboratory experience • Hands-on laboratory experience • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and perform lab testing • Ability to understand and follow experimental protocols for preservation of data • Ability to follow safe laboratory practices and protocols • Basic data summarization skills • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Ability to stand while working in the laboratory throughout most of the day

Laboratory Technician Overview • Under the supervision of a Senior Technician or Chemist, the Laboratory Technician performs routine laboratory testing and data generation using standard test methods. The Technician supports Application Engineers by generating data and performing established laboratory experiments. Responsibilities include testing coatings, evaluating and recording data, and summarizing and reporting results in a laboratory notebook. The Technician uses computer systems to enter data and create charts and tables for communication of project results and details. The role involves preparing cleaners, pretreatments, paints, and coatings from chemical ingredients and testing the performance characteristics of coated substrates using established procedures. The Technician is expected to demonstrate a high level of initiative and independence while following established procedures and safe laboratory practices.

Job Duties • Perform routine data generation based on standard test methods • Support Application Engineers with data generation • Test coatings using established procedures • Evaluate, collect, and record laboratory data • Participate in organizing and performing experiments using established procedures • Summarize and report experimental results in a laboratory notebook • Use a computer to enter data and information, including charts and tables, for communication of project results and details • Prepare cleaners, pretreatments, paints, and coatings from chemical ingredients • Test performance characteristics of coated substrates using established procedures
