COCO Business Performance & Finance (BPF) Lead

Chevron is one of the few integrated oil companies with Company Owned and Company Operated (COCO) retail stations. These flagship stations set the standard of excellence across Chevron’s Retail network. Based in Houston, this role serves as the finance lead supporting the California COCO business as it continues to be a leader in the industry, evaluates growth opportunities, and creates long term enterprise value. The remote support requires this candidate to be independent and a proactive go-getter. As a team lead, the successful candidate needs to effectively prioritize while leading a team of analysts without direct reporting authority.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: 

1) Financial Forecast & Annual Business Plan

• Partner with business and respective finance support teams to develop the annual business plan and forecast updates, while delivering clear key messaging for leadership reviews.
• Coordinate plan submission, quality checks, and follow-ups to ensure plans meet expectations for timeliness, completeness, and internal consistency.

• Provide wholistic financial support to the leadership team, station managers, and business consultants and ensure accuracy of the full business P&L

2) Results & Executive Communications

• Lead the development and delivery of monthly and ad-hoc executive level presentation materials and communication packages for senior leadership.
• Translate complex topics, assumptions, and tradeoffs into clear, concise narratives suitable for executive audiences.
• Transform financial reporting into actionable insights that help the business make better decisions.
• Demonstrates strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and how financial drivers translate to business performance; operate effectively in both the details and the big picture.

3) Competitive Performance & Benchmarking

• Support and partner with the COCO business to both validate cashflow improvement ideas in both the ideation and close out of initiatives identified as part of the overall performance improvement through external benchmarking.
• Synthesize data and help identify performance gaps, trends, and improvement opportunities to inform leadership discussions and strategic and tactical decision-making.
• Lead monthly results analysis and discussions, and provide top-tier decision support on capital investment and opex decisions that support the business growth objectives.

4) Leadership

• As lead analyst for COCO, this role provides workflow direction, leadership, guidance, and coaching to COCO finance analysts without direct reporting authority and has responsibility for oversight of all financial matters for the business.
• Maintain strong team network with analysts and support teams in Houston, Argentina, and Manila to deliver actionable insights into business performance and profitability and enable quick business decision-making.
• Proactively drive cost savings and profit improvement by identifying strategic opportunities and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement them.
• Actively participate on the COCO Leadership Team.

Required Qualifications:

• Knowledge in Finance, Accounting, or related business field; MBA and/or CPA is a plus.
• Experience in the energy industry in Fuels Sales (e.g. Company Owned & Company Operated, Retailer, Marketer, Wholesale) is strongly preferred
• Progressive experience in Finance; supervisor experience is a plus
• Proven ability to operate as an individual contributor and coach, providing guidance and influencing outcomes without direct authority; aspires to lead.
• Strong understanding of financial fundamentals, accounting, financial analysis and business planning business planning
• Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach that also possesses excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
