CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER- Day ShiftThe City of College Park is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to ensure that commercial and residential properties comply with all City codes and ordinances related to property maintenance, zoning, fire safety, and noise.The selected candidate will complete approximately 6-8 weeks of initial training, Monday-Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Upon successful completion of training, the employee will transition to a 10-hour shift schedule consisting of Wednesday through Saturday, 8:00 A.M. to 6:30 P.M.The Code Enforcement Officer will also be required to attend court hearings and staff meetings. Applicants must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency, and a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED equivalentOne year of specialized coursework or training in fire safety, construction technology, building inspection, or a related fieldValid driver's license in the state of residenceAbility to obtain the ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certification within the first six months of hire.Preference will be given to those who possess either of the following:ICC Property Maintenance and HousingICC Zoning InspectorMD Fire Inspector ICommunity Noise Enforcement certificationThe selected candidate must complete the following FEMA ICS courses before the start date:FEMA ICS-100, 200, 700, and 800Compensation and BenefitsThe starting hourly range is $30.29-$31.05, depending on qualifications, along with a competitive benefits package that includes participation in the Maryland State Retirement System.Application ProcessTo be considered, applicants must submit:A completed City application (available at www.collegeparkmd.gov )A resumeA cover letterApplication DeadlineThis position is open until October 10, 2026.The City of College Park is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
