  • Mentor and guide TerraPower engineers in experiment design and scaling analysis.
  • Provide insights to the code assessment and the alignment with PIRT.
  • Review and develop assessment bases (benchmark, identify applicable tests, etc.) and evaluate models against tests with benchmark calculations.
  • Review and contribute to test requirements development, experiment design, instrumentation, and operation.
  • Participate in verification and validation activities, including engineering reviews of analyses and methods development.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in developing scaling methodology and performing scaling analysis under RG 1.203 requirements.
  • Deep understanding of Nuclear IETs and/or SETs design, operation, and application for nuclear code validation or assessment.
  • Knowledge of nuclear systems thermal-hydraulics, reactor dynamics, and transient phenomena.
  • Experience with nuclear safety analysis software such as SAS4A/SASSYS-1, SAM, GOTHIC, RELAP5, TRACE, MELCOR, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with nuclear design, regulatory requirements, and risk-informed performance-based guidance for Non-Light Water Reactors.
  • Experience with EMDAP and Regulatory Guide 1.203.
  • Desirable: Experience with SFR safety methods and other reactor types like Light Water Reactors.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, modeling, and reporting skills.
  • Understanding of NQA-1 requirements related to test programs and code validation.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ph.D. in nuclear engineering or related field with at least 5 years of nuclear experience.
