Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.\n \nSummary:\n \nAccurately and independently makes decisions based on specialized knowledge and standard protocol. This includes, but is not limited to coding inpatient and outpatient. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values, and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.\n \nOther information:\n \nRequired Job Qualifications:\n\n Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology \n 2 years inpatient/outpatient coding experience\n Windows applications\n Cooperates well with others\n Competent attention to detail and accuracy\n Proficient computer use and software applications\n Ability to apply local, state, and federal guidelines with attention to detail\n \nPreferred Job Qualifications:\n\n RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS Certification \n Experience in inpatient/outpatient medical record coding \n \nPhysical Demands:\n\n Ability to move about areas of the medical center throughout the shift\n Ability to transport charts, papers, records and items throughout the medical center\n Ability to concentrate on task at hand in open distracting environment\n \nResponsibilities:\n\n Distribute and monitor work flow daily \n Assist coders and problem solving.\n Train new coders with Rush processes and procedures. \n Work closely with auditors\n Assigns ICD-10-CM/CPT-4 diagnostic and procedure codes to patient charts with accuracy and attention to detail\n Abstracts selected data items and enters in 3M encoder/Epic software with accuracy and attention to detail\n Maintains a log of work performed\n Completes other assigned duties as directed by management\n \nRush is an equal opportunity employer.
