Coding Club Adviser

TITLE: Coding Club Adviser

STIPEND: $600

SUMMARY: Reporting to the Building Principal, the Middle School Coding Club Advisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising a student coding club that meets twice per month over the course of six months during the school year. The advisor will foster student interest in coding, computer science, and technology through engaging, age-appropriate activities and projects in a safe and supportive environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Planning and facilitating coding club meetings and activities
• Encouraging student creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• Introducing students to coding concepts, programs, and/or platforms appropriate for middle school learners
• Supervising students during all club meetings and activities
• Communicating meeting schedules and updates with students, families, and administration
• Maintaining attendance and ensuring adherence to school expectations and safety procedures
• Supporting a positive and inclusive environment that promotes student engagement and exploration in technology and computer science The advisor should demonstrate strong organizational skills, an interest in technology and coding education, and the ability to build positive relationships with middle school students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current member of the Oxford Education Association.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods; position oneself to demonstrate technique; move up to 25 lbs. Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is generally performed primarily indoors and predominantly in a school classroom.
