Collections Specialist (Temp-to-Hire | Hybrid Ballantyne area in Charlotte, NC)

LHH is seeking a proactive Collections Specialist to support the Accounts Receivable team with timely collection of outstanding balances and resolution of customer payment issues. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with a hybrid schedule after training, reporting to an office location in Ballantyne. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and experienced in AR collections within a fast-paced corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and follow up on past-due balances
• Contact customers via phone and email to secure payment and resolve delinquent accounts
• Review aging reports and prioritize collection activities
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, short pays, and disputes
• Document collection efforts, customer conversations, and payment commitments accurately
• Partner with billing, AR, and internal teams to resolve invoice and payment issues
• Prepare basic reports and updates on collection status for management
• Support month-end AR close activities as needed

Qualifications

• 13+ years of collections or accounts receivable experience
• Experience working in an ERP or accounting system preferred
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with a customer-service mindset
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines independently
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and vlookups)
• Local to the Ballantyne/Charlotte area for hybrid schedule

Compensation and Work Schedule

• $26/hour - $28/hour
• Hybrid schedule (on-site and remote) after initial training period; 3 days onsite, 2 days work from home
