Collections Specialist

Integrated Talent Strategies (ITS) is seeking a Collections Specialist to work in the Columbus, OH area. This position offers a variety of great benefits, including health insurance, paid holidays, vacation time, and paid time off.
Position Summary

The Collections Specialist will support day-to-day collections activities for both residential and commercial customer accounts. This role is responsible for contacting customers regarding past due balances, resolving billing discrepancies, and helping reduce company losses through effective account management and customer communication.

This individual will also assist with maintaining reports, databases, and tracking tools used to monitor customer and vendor activity, while supporting accounts receivable and collections reporting functions.

Key Responsibilities

•Contact customers regarding overdue balances and assist with payment arrangements or dispute resolution
•Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and collection-related issues
•Recommend accounts for escalation or third-party collections when appropriate
•Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly collections reporting
•Support documentation and compliance with company procedures, policies, and regulations
•Work closely with customer service teams to resolve account concerns efficiently
•Assist with maintaining databases, tracking systems, and reporting tools
•Analyze account activity and identify trends or issues requiring attention

Qualifications

•Minimum of 3 years of collections or accounts receivable experience required
•Utility industry experience preferred
•Strong negotiation and customer service skills
•Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
•Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload
•Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required
•Experience with Microsoft Access or SQL is a plus
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and accuracy
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•Ability to work independently and make sound business decisions
