About the Collections Specialist Role
The Collections Specialist will support consumer account resolution efforts by communicating with customers regarding delinquent accounts and repayment options. This role is ideal for someone who has experience in collections, financial services, lending, or customer-facing account support.
The Collections Specialist will work closely with leadership and a small account resolution team to help manage account follow-up, documentation, and customer communication. This position plays an important role in protecting the organization’s financial health while maintaining a respectful, service-focused approach with customers.
Role Responsibilities
Contact customers regarding delinquent consumer accounts and payment resolution options
Support collections activity for consumer lending and financial accounts
Maintain accurate notes, account updates, and follow-up documentation
Communicate professionally with customers by phone and other approved channels
Partner with internal team members to resolve account questions and next steps
Track account status, deadlines, and required follow-up actions
Help ensure collection efforts are handled with accuracy, discretion, and professionalism
Use internal banking and account management systems to review and update customer information
Qualifications
1+ year of experience in a Financial Services, banking, credit union, or related financial institution environment
1+ year of collections, account resolution, or delinquent account follow-up experience
Consumer lending collections experience is a strong plus
Experience with Symitar or similar financial institution systems is preferred
Strong communication skills and a professional phone presence
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
Comfortable working in a structured, customer-facing environment
Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and care
